Christmas Newsletter 2024
Greetings to Members,
The New HFRRA Committee are taking this opportunity to pass on Best Wishes to you all for a Very Merry Christmas and the Happiest 2025
To Introduce the New HFRRA Committee elected at the Associations AGM held on Saturday 7th September 2024, we have Ted Swanney, Robyn King, Helen Oakes, Terry Dwight with Elle Heappey appointed as Chairman at the inaugural meeting. Sadly, since then Terry has stepped down due to health concerns and we are working with a new committee member to replace him. Fiona Rowe has been appointed as Treasurer with Janet Lester signed as Administrator.
Initially the Committee met weekly to address the required setup details plus attend to the current and ongoing issues. I am pleased to say we are making steady progress and will be able to drop back to monthly meetings soon.
It is pertinent that when there are so many visitors arriving here in Taupo - all in the Holiday mood - that we mention Safety and Consideration to others to ensure we are all able to enjoy this festive time with Families, Friend’s and Neighbours – safely and happily.
Please remember to be careful of the young, and not so young, who will be using the Roads and Footpaths at this time
We are working with the Taupo District Council re the proposed reduced speed limit to 30mph for the area, and have been advised that at this stage with the planned Government changes to road speed limits we need to wait for details of their new rules to plan further progress
There is also the anticipated problem with the current berm Trees which are proving to be unsuitable as they are creating root heave that damage footpaths and kerbs. To date TDC have repaired this damage but we have been warned that as the Trees are our responsibility it will be an HFRRA cost in the future. This will be quite
expensive so we hope to have a long-term plan arranged to achieve this progressively
Have you noticed our excellent lawn keepers and gardeners are doing a wonderful job to have all so beautifully trim. Hopefully this will
attract newcomers to the area and improve our Market Values.
ALSO Sincere thanks go to all our occupiers who are keeping their sites tidy, being considerate to their neighbours by keeping noise down at night, and parking considerately. This with dog owners having their pooches on leads and picking up deposits left all keeps the atmosphere pleasant to live in.
At the AGM it was agreed to retain the current Owners Levy at $1000 per property as that will cover the anticipated costs within the 2024/2025 year.
Could we remind our property owners that when there is to be a change of ownership, it is essential they or their Lawyers, advise the HFRRA immediately to enable the Legal Compliance and allocation of Levy payments to take place when a sale goes unconditional. It is very difficult to catch up with this later.
Issues for the Committee to address when the initial setup is completed are:
Traffic Speed Limit reduction to 30mph and Berm Tree replacements in the area with Taupo District Council.
Constitution and Rules updates to meet current standard requirements – a Professional is assisting with this.
Website Update – it is believed that when the website contains all the updated HFRRA information for new arrivals,
that would overcome the need for Welcome Packs which are quite cumbersome and do date. Plus all owners would then have instant access to latest information as and when they require it.
Keep Safe, Be Kind and Enjoy the Festive Season
Regards Elle Heappey and HFRRA Committee
